Honoring Our Veterans

At the heart of our great nation, there are unsung heroes who have dedicated their lives to preserving the freedoms we hold dear. They are the brave souls who have donned the uniform, faced unimaginable challenges and put their lives on the line to protect the American way of life.

At Storey Trucking, we understand that the sacrifices made by our U.S. veterans are immeasurable, and we believe it's our duty to honor and support these heroes who've done so much for our country.

For this month’s blog, we wanted to look at the stories of some of our own team members who are proud veterans and share their unique journeys and experiences as they transitioned from the military into the world of trucking.

Mark F. proudly served in the United States Air Force for four years. When asked about his transition to civilian status, Mark explained that there were no issues with going from active service to “civilian”.

Jerry K. proudly served in the United States Navy for nine years. He cites his transition as a fairly smooth process, as he was an instructor for Navy schools and was able to make the transition to Civilian Instructor. We’ve been blessed to have Jerry as a part of our Storey family since 2021.

Jerry’s advice for those who are about to begin their transition to civilian is, “You will find out that your rank has no meaning in the private sector. You will have to make a name for yourself.”

Every veteran’s story is different. They may not all experience a smooth transition like our veterans were blessed with. We greatly urge veterans to seek assistance from their local Veterans Affairs center in preparation for their separation or retirement from service.

Additionally, know that there is a community surrounding you that will support you as you make this transition. Storey Trucking proudly supports our veterans, locally and nationally, but we know that real differences happen first at home.

For our Alabama family, visit alabamaveteran.org to learn how these amazing folks are connecting our veterans to their peers and ensuring a smooth transition as they join us here at home.

For our Tennessee family, visit friendsofthetroops.org to learn how this outstanding group is ensuring our veterans are not forgotten through cards, assistance for our homeless veterans and support for veterans and their families around the holiday season.

As a company, we will always do our best to work with veterans and support them as they embark on creating a new life for themselves, their families and their loved ones.

Together, we drive with purpose, honor and respect.
