5 New Year’s Resolutions for Truck Drivers

Happy New Year, Storey family! As tradition goes, it’s time to make some new year’s resolutions that you may or may not keep. Like, joining a new gym or becoming a Michelin star chef.

Not to worry! We’ve compiled some totally practical new year’s resolutions that you can accomplish on the road.

Reach out to old friends

Life on the road is difficult. Some days, it feels like you can’t even remember your own name, let alone have the mental energy to maintain friendships. Thankfully, technology has made communication incredibly easy and instant!

This year, we challenge you to reach out to an old friend you haven’t spoken to lately. Find that buddy you were on a high school sports team with or someone you met at a truck stop years ago and shoot them a message. We guarantee they’d be happy to hear from you. Plus, laughter with an old friend is the best medicine, and we could all enter 2024 with some good health!

Choose healthier snack options

Okay, okay. We know this is easier said than done, but we’re only suggesting some slight tweaks to eating habits on the road!

Sure, truck stops are completely stocked with sugary drinks and greasy food, however, there are some healthier options out there. Switch an energy drink for hot tea and salty chips for popcorn. It’s an easy start and still accessible when you’re out on the road.

Commit to getting better sleep

A good night’s sleep is vital to your performance on the road. In 2024, we challenge you to create a better sleep schedule!

Limiting light and noise distractions, as well as reducing your caffeine intake before bed can drastically make bedtime on the road so much easier.

Be proactive about truck maintenance

Your truck’s health is just as important as your personal health! Always be sure to take a look at your truck before you go out on the road and make note of any repairs you may need, whether it’s as simple as replacing the windshield wipers or an oil change.

Doing a once over and getting your truck over to maintenance will help you avoid issues when you’re driving. You’ll be glad you did it!

Learn something new

A great thing about life is that we can all constantly evolve and learn. There is no age limit for being a student of life or a student of your profession.

Seek out ways you can improve, personally or professionally, this year. Whether that’s through an awesome self-help book or staying up to date on industry trends. Whatever path you take, we’re sure it will help you maintain a positive outlook on life!

All in all, we wish you a very happy new year and hope that your 2024 is full of good health and prosperity!
