Payroll Department Spotlight

If this past year has taught us anything, it is the power of connection… connection to our family, friends, work family and so much more. At Storey, we value each and every team member and we would like to highlight the departments and individuals that have kept Storey running for over five decades.

The Department Spotlight will allow us all to put a face with our fellow team members that we have not met or may not see often and to also understand their day-to-day scope of work, successes and any challenges that they overcome on a daily basis.

The first Department Spotlight will feature our Payroll Department. As we can all agree, employees getting paid and customer invoices being processed accurately and efficiently are an integral part of any company.

Collectively, our Payroll Department has over 24 years with Storey; which lends to an overall understanding and deep knowledge of what is important to both our drivers and our customers

The Payroll team consists of Beverly Allday, Cindy Brown, Debbie Pyle, and Lashell Peoples. These ladies are continuously finding ways to streamline internal processes with their main objective of getting drivers paid promptly and accurately.

Often companies have set days each week that payroll is processed. However, Storey has always wanted to pay their drivers as quickly as possible, so paperwork is processed daily; which can be upwards of 60+ drivers on any given day.

The volume can be daunting for a team of four but our Payroll team always delivers and even works weekends to make it happen. The timeline to process paperwork is within 3 business days but the team often always surpasses this deadline and processes earlier.

In addition to payroll, the team is also responsible to balance the advance sheets, customer billings/invoices, ageing reports, file records and most importantly resolve any issues or discrepancies.

Storey is very grateful to our Payroll Department and their dedication to our team.

Beverly joined Storey in 2010 and offers over 40+ years of Payroll, Accounting Clerk and Secretarial experience and is a true asset to the Payroll Department.

With Beverly’s knowledge and tenure, she continues to keep Storey moving forward each and every day.

Beverly views the most important aspect of her position is to process payroll effectively. She thoroughly enjoys her role and aspires to continue to grow with the company.

During her downtime, Beverly enjoys spending time with four generations of family. She is married with two children, three grandchildren and just recently a great grandchild. She also loves Alabama football and reading.

Cindy was born and raised in Henagar, AL and developed an interest in the trucking industry many years ago. Her path thankfully led to Storey in 2011.

As a seasoned veteran within the trucking industry, Cindy is invaluable and has led in her role for over 10 years.

Her role is all-encompassing and she wears many hats --- including processing tags, permits for both trucks and trailers, IFTA/IRP, fuel tax, inspections and citations, drivers mobile app, orientation for new hires, assists Payroll/Billing when needed and always willing to take on additional tasks to keep the office moving forward.

Relationships with colleagues and drivers are very important to Cindy. When not working, Cindy enjoys spending time with her husband and son, walking, music/concerts, great food and time spent at home.

Debbie has an eclectic background spanning from various roles with Verizon Supply all the way to the Grand Canyon.

Debbie visited Fort Payne, AL years ago and fell in love with the area. Her path led her to Storey in 2020 and she has been a valuable member of the team ever since.

The most important task for Debbie in her day-to-day is getting the drivers paid promptly and secondly getting the billing processed. She is always striving for accuracy and to streamline internal processes.

Born and raised in Florida but prefers to be in the mountains. Enjoys spending time with her family and loves seeing everyones’ pet posts --- so definitely keep sending those in!

Lashell enjoys spending time with her husband of 20 years and 3 children. When not working, she enjoys swimming and trips to the beach.
